Odysee is a decentralized alternative to YouTube and other content-uploading platforms, and it is cheered for valuing free speech . The platform is ready for a comeback after nearly three years since splitting from LBRY, now running on Arweave (AR). In 2021, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) opened a lawsuit against LBRY Inc. for allegedly selling unregistered securities. The company lost the case in 2023 and announced it would close its activities. LBRY was a blockchain-based file-sharing network, while Odysee was built on top of it as a front end for content creators and the audience.
